The Brief
To assess a domestic dwelling for solar power solution installation and install to meet requirements.
The Activity:
Our initial assessment of any building, whether it be industrial, commercial or domestic, is absolutely critical to ensuring the correct and most effective and efficient solution is identified, designed and installed, meeting the identified requirements of the client at all times.
In the case of the Lau household, due to the nature of the roof provision, it was assessed that the usual solar panels and storage battery were not suited to the substrate and positioning of the space available.
Instead, it was agreed that a Tesla Powerwall, Expansion Pack and backup gateway would provide the energy capture and self-provision to mitigate against power outages or breaks, without the need for solar panels.
Given the required delivery for the Powerwall, each unit is considerably weighty, needing the use of a specifically designed and supplied trolley to allow easier maneuvering around site, and installing in a safe manner with a strong enough base to support each unit. In this case, a covered storage area attached to section of the house was identified to be able to provide the correct environment for the housing of the 2 units.
The Powerwall will offer 13.5kWh of battery storage, with the gateway providing the security of consistent energy provision irrelevant of Grid inconsistencies.
The Result:
This client has both an electrical vehicle charging point and an exotic fish pond, requiring a relatively large provision of electrical energy, the interruption of which would cause disruption to the household and harm to the pond life.
The estimated payback of this solution is calculated at around five years.
