You could be saving hundreds of pounds a year under new proposals by National Grid’s electricity systems operator (ESO), aimed at shifting when households carry out power hungry activities.
It was recently reported in the Times that “Households typically pay 28.34p for each kilowatt-hour of electricity they use, but could instead potentially be paid as much as £6 for each kilowatt-hour they avoid using at peak times.”
With trials carried out, The National Grid ESO is looking to roll out the scheme to millions of households, Some households in the trial saved as much as £4.35 for the two-hour period of peak demand between 4:30pm – 6:30pm. That is a staggering saving of more than £1,500 annually!
By investing in domestic battery storage, you can reap the full benefits of this proposed variable pricing and potentially save hundreds of pounds a year. The payback time for investing in battery storage will shorten massively and if combined with solar is reduced further.
