Springwell School, Hartlepool (Sigma Catering Equipment)
The Brief
To update electrical power, cabling and sockets due to a school kitchen upgrade.
The Activity:
Through our existing relationship with Sigma Catering Equipment, we were invited to support them with a school kitchen upgrade.
The team worked to design the electrical installations, cabling and socket requirements to compliment the new Sigma Catering Equipment design and layout of the kitchen, for the best user experience.
Once the plans were agreed, alongside McGann Builders who carried out the main building adjustment works, we stripped out the existing electrical installations to allow for contractors to install the whiterock wall covering. We then replaced the storeroom distribution board with new, relocated the isolator for the dishwasher, installed electrical power supply for a single phase new combi oven and extended the outgoing supply, so as to be able to reposition the existing oven/hob.
A mix of sockets and double sockets were also fitted, some flush with the wall face, and data points in the office space which had also been relocated.
Once all the new cabling and electrical wiring was complete, the team reinstalled the existing electronic items within the kitchen area and fitted wiring for lighting with the canopy.
In addition, lighting and emergency lighting were newly installed to the kitchen area, cloaks, toilet, two storerooms and exit area, including key switches. Fire alarms were disconnected and reconnected following the works by others to install a new suspended ceiling.
We couldn’t have completed the job to our usual exceptional standard without the support of our preferred suppliers Edmunsons in Durham (Schneider Acti9 distribution board, 10mm SWA cable, and other accessories), and Park Electrical in Stockton (lighting design and supplies including Ansell IP65 LED panels, emergency lighting, and Ovia and Luceco light fittings).
The Result:
Despite the tight deadline due to the summer holiday period, and working alongside a number of other tradespeople, the job was completed on time and to budget, to the delight of the kitchen staff and management, working hard to keep the future of our country fed and watered.
