The Brief
Solar Power Solution Design & Installation: To install a full solar power solution to a rosemary clay tile roofed domestic property.
The Activity:
At Tomlinson Longstaff, our team is highly experienced in adapting & creating solutions for all types of electrical power installations depending on the surroundings, age of the buildings and, most importantly, the needs of the customer.
This project has been one of those where the team had to use their experience and technical knowledge to provide a full solar power installation for the client, despite a more challenging roof type.
The roof tiles had distinctive character and suited the aesthetics of the building. This, however, brings its own challenges in terms of the tiles being more delicate than usual and the angle of the roof being rather steep.
For the most efficient renewable technology solution, the team designed an installation utilising 27 Trina 420W panels, 2 x 5kW Solar Edge inverters for more efficient sunlight energy conversion, a 10kWh Solar Edge battery for energy storage, a MyEnergi Zappi 7kW electric vehicle charging point and 2 MyEnergi eddi energy diverters, for the most efficient distribution of captured energy, rather than it going back to the grid.
With the delicacy of the tiles, we used the Renusol fixing hooks for our mounting system in conjunction with Hookstops to avoid any cracking or damage to the tiles under the hooks post installation.

The Result:
The renewable technology solution is expected to produce around 10.5MWh of energy annually for the property, the equivalent of planting 113 trees a year!
In addition, due to the energy generation on the property boosted by the storage system, it is estimated that electricity bills will be reduced by around 75%.
While we were up on the roof, we carried out some general maintenance replacing any cracked tiles that we came across and gutter clearing as part of our exceptional customer service.
