November 2022 Newsletter

The nights are definitely drawing in now, with the clocks having changed, and the doorway to winter opening, which means it’s also time to think about lighting and security on work sites, schools and domestically.

Don’t forget we offer a check of all your electrical lighting and security systems to ensure you’re all wrapped up for winter.

So what’s happened since we last wrote? You’ll see below that demand for our renewable technology services has shot through the roof! If you’re considering any kind of solar power solutions, energy storage or charging points for your business or home, contact us sooner rather than later so you can take advantage of the 0% VAT that remains on all solar technology equipment.

In other news, we celebrated our QS and testing technician Paul’s 4 year anniversary with Tomlinson Longstaff. Such a great addition to our team, Paul’s expertise and hard work definitely adds to the strength of the team and the work that we’re able to deliver. Congratulations again, Paul!

TL’s Tech Talks

TL's Tech Talks

Back in September we launched our ‘TL’s Tech Talks’ as way to support engineers in our industry, and help them keep up to speed with regulations changes or new requirements for specific electrical engineering jobs.

We’ll be sharing this information on our social media platforms, so either give us a follow on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or let us know if you prefer to receive your information direct to your inbox & we’ll add you to our mailing list.

What’s been happening…

‘Exiting the Grid’

After receiving an enquiry via the MCS website, we not only needed all our solar technology expertise but also our design brain cells to provide a full solar energy system (panels, optimisers, battery and electrical vehicle charging point) for a domestic flat roof situation.

Luckily the team love jobs like this! We not only provided the best fit for the job, but we exceeded the expectations of the customer at the same time. Another good job done.

Read more about how we tackled the job.

If you’d like a free quote or want to find out more about solar PV and/or battery storage systems, call us on 01388 833836.

Are you a “Prosumer”?

There’s a new word on the street…. have you heard about it and jumped on the new trend?

Definition:  A producer and consumer of energy. Using electricity (consumer) and utilising solar power technologies and storage batteries to retain and feedback energy to the grid (producer).

The result = a Prosumer.

Be a Prosumer and help the planet as well as your business & home.

Don’t Risk It

On a routine electrical inspection (EICR) at a school recently, one of our engineers came across this.

If left, it could have smouldered and caused a fire, putting anyone in the building at risk.

Don’t put off having regular checks of electrical infrastructure. A regular inspection by a qualified expert engineer could, quite literally, save lives.

Don't risk it

Hints & Tips

Lighting

Now that the clocks have gone back and winter is almost upon us, it means that the nights are not only darker but also longer.

Specific lighting and security systems can transform a building, an outside area or a manufacturing space as well as the experience of those people working in and around those areas, energy usage and thereby costs to your business or school.

By installing the right solution for your needs, and keeping up to date with checks on the equipment in place, you can not only be assured that all is working as it should but also have peace of mind that your people and your buildings are protected.

Call us to find out more about our electrical lighting and security system checks and installations on 01388 833836, or visit our website.

Service Spotlight – Solar Tech

Demands on the cost of living, energy price hikes and no real assurance for the future of energy have meant that enquiries into the installation of solar technology have never been so high.

There are, however, a few things to be mindful of if you are considering solar technology for your business or home:

  • ensure that you find a reputable installer who is MCS accredited & ideally recommended as a supplier and installer.
  • check the specification and quality of the equipment that you are recommended and ask for data specification sheets if they aren’t provided.
  • you may need a G99 agreement from your regional electrical power provider (eg Northern Powergrid), which can take up to 45 days to receive.
  • you should check with your local planning department and, if necessary, housebuilder to ensure permission is granted for the installation ahead of commissioning works.
  • consider whether you want to store any solar energy captured in a battery, for use later in the day or overnight.
  • demand for solar technology is on the rise. If you’re tining about getting solar technology installed then make our enquiries sooner rather than later.

We offer a free-of-charge, no commitment site visit & quotation by our expert team. Just give us a call and we’ll get right on it.
