‘Self-Sustaining from the Start’
We were delighted to be involved in the design, project management and installation of the full electrical power supply and security installations to this stunning new build property, with a true ‘green build’ sustainability edge.
Solar panels, two storage batteries, two electric vehicle charging points and LED lighting all contributed to the more self-sustaining, resource efficient and cost-effective intention of the property.

Spreading Light Across the Seas
The team love getting involved in jobs that are out of the ordinary. In this case, we were tasked with sourcing, assembling & wiring 4 bespoke designer lamps created by a collaboration of a well-renowned London designer & Rupert McBain Studio based in the northeast.
They were truly impressive once finished and are settled in their new homes in the US & the EU.
We’re looking forward to seeing what the studio delivers next!

Solar Power Technology Jargon Buster!
Solar Technology can be a bit of a minefield with so many options, so here’s our quick reference guide to what you might consider for your home or work site:
- solar panels – these are the panels that sit either on your roof tiles or within your roof (integrated / in-roof) and convert the sun’s energy into electrical energy that you can then use within your building and/or send back to the Grid.
- storage battery – tends to be installed in a garage or outhouse and stores excess electrical energy produced by your panels rather than it going back to the Grid. This means you use less from the Grid & so keep your costs down. It can also be used to draw electricity supply from the night or off-peak Grid rates which can then be used during more costly time periods.
- optimiser – attached to the solar panels & maximises the amount of energy collected by the panels. They are excellent for roofs that tend to be shaded, which can make sunlight capture more difficult.
- inverter – converts DC electricity from the solar panels to AC current that can be used in buildings and homes.
- mounting system – the method used to fix the solar panels to or within the roof, and can often vary depending on the type of roof tiles that the building has. Our team is well experienced in different types of roofing to ensure you get the best system for your building and an assurance of no damage to your tiles or roofing material during or post installation.
- hot water diverter – this device uses surplus electricity generated by the solar panel system to heat water, avoiding the need to use electricity from the Grid, and keeping costs lower.
- bird mesh protection – this is applied over the panels to prevent birds from resting or nesting on the panels and potentially damaging them and reducing the amount of energy that can be captured. This is usually an additional option to the solar panel technology installation but may be well worth considering if you have avian visitors!
