July 2024 Newsletter

We are award winners!

Yes, we were recently awarded winner and highly commended following two prestigious nominations. You can read more about that below…

We enjoyed attending the Professional Electrician and Installler Trade Show back in May at the Yorkshire Event Centre, discovering plenty of new ideas and connections.

And we’ve had a flurry of training within the team, and secured another year accredited by MCS, the expert independent certification body for microgeneration (renewable energy) products and installers.

We’ve had quite the time!

Energy Efficient Awards

Yes, you read it right, we are now award-winning for the north-east, having been crowned winners for the Energy Efficient Awards for the North East ‘Small Scale Project (<£250k) of the Year 2024’ for our Three-Phase solar installation at T. Manners and Sons Ltd. head office…

AND highly commended in the ‘Solar PV Installer and Contractor Category 2024’.

It was fabulous to be at the awards ceremony to collect our wins and celebrate so many of our fellow industry contributors and suppliers.

We are super proud to have been recognised for this newer arm of our electrical contractor business.

What’s been happening…

Our Apprenticeship Application Process Is Now Closed

We have been inundated with applications for our Apprenticeship Scheme again this year, and are working our way through them.

It’s a testament to our industry and our award-winning business (have we mentioned that already?! 😃) that we have so many from such a diverse collection of applicants.

We’ll be contacting all applicants over the next few months and can’t wait to announce who has been successful.

Retro Is the New Modern!

Did you know that retrofitted solar storage batteries and stand-alone battery systems are now VAT free, so you save 20%?

Why would you need a solar power storage battery?

  • store excess energy generated by solar panels.
  • use stored energy at times when importing from the grid is at ‘peak rates’ (no solar panels required).
  • take energy from the grid during ‘off peak’ rates (no solar panels required).
  • use as a power source during a power cut (subject to the type of installation).

Fascinating Fact of the Day!

According to fst.com, 250,000 people pass through Stockholm train station every day, giving off body heat as they manoeuvre about.

This body heat is then captured, stored and transported to a neighbouring office block through a system of underground water tanks and pipework, providing hot water and heating throughout the building.

Imagine if all the train station networks across the world did something equally as clever.

The mind boggles.

Hints & Tips

Since September 2023, business owners have been required to look to replace any fluorescent lamps or bulbs wth alternative lighting solutions and dispose of them as hazardous waste, due to their mercury content.

We offer a full lighting audit and replacement retrofit upgrade to LED solutions that cater for all business types and scenarios.

And switching to LED brings benefits all round with

  • lower electrical power usage,
  • reduced energy bills,
  • longer life span, so less frequent replacement,
  • lower maintenance requirement and cost,
  • improved working environment.

Does your lighting need a bit of TLC?

Give us a shout and we’ll come and take a look.

Service Highlight – Thermal Imaging

Make your Business Low Risk for your Insurance Company

Want to keep your insurers happy and your premiums low?

Thermal Imaging can help put your insurer’s mind at rest by demonstrating that your business offers little, if any, risk from poor electrical connections or equipment that could be hazardous to your work site.

Not all issues can be picked up with the usual measures, like circuit breakers. A Thermal Imaging audit and report can comprehensively and non-intrusively demonstrate that your business is responsible and one to be trusted, putting a smile on your insurer’s face and potentially reducing your insurance premiums; something we all want, right?

Contact the team on 01388 833836.

If you are considering a modification to your site, extending some works or looking at a brand new installation, contact our office and we will happily offer a no-commitment exploratory meeting to ensure that your project comes to life quickly, on time and within budget.
