Ground Mounted Solar Installation

The Client

Allison, Piercebridge

The Brief

To mount and commission solar panels and supporting solar power batteries to a ground mounted fixture for a domestic dwelling.

The Activity:

Tomlinson Longstaff Head Office were delighted to receive this enquiry from a customer who had heard of our previous good work and received a recommendation from a previous client.

It’s not often we are asked to design, install and commission solar panels in a garden situation, but it can be a great way to take advantage of solar power solutions when roof space may not be available due to house design, sun placement, or overhanging trees.

Following a site visit to ascertain the size of the garden area available, ground type, and position, the team drew up plans to offer 22 PV panels for solar energy capture.

With the design approved by our customer, GRN Construction visited the site to fit a concrete plinth to provide a flat base and bolster the panels effectively for solar generated power capture and security, before the TL team got to work installing:

Some further aesthetic work was also required in terms of the cabling required to connect the house to the garden mount, ensuring it was discrete but also sturdy enough for all weather conditions.

The Result:

With the newly installed solar power garden solution, the family home is now partially self-sustainable in terms of generating and storing solar powered electrical energy, with any stored electrical power protected from outages with the inclusion of the backup interface.

It is estimated that this solar power system will generate around 7.5MWh per year, the equivalent to 66 trees being planted, with payback estimated to take around 13 years.
