January 2021 Newsletter

It’s business as usual here at Tomlinson Longstaff, even with the tighter restrictions. Our diary is already getting booked up with new installations, project extensions and remedial work, more of which we’ll be able to tell you about as the year progresses.

What’s been happening…

In December we had our annual inspection from the NICEIC and passed with flying colours. It was a strange experience as it was carried out remotely rather than in person, but it adds another year to our membership with NICEIC making that 45 years!

We thoroughly enjoyed installing electric vehicle charging points on the Raby Estate & for the Bishop of Durham toward the end of last year. We’re passionate about renewable solution opportunities for businesses and homes, and will be developing this more as a mainstream offer very soon. We’ll be letting you know as soon as it all comes on line.

No one likes an emergency, however we received a rapid response incident call from an industrial customer close to Christmas, where a distribution board had been damaged resulting in the site having to be closed. Our flexibility ensured we could quickly coordinate our workforce and materials to have production up & running again within 48 hours, allowing output to meet the pre-Christmas demands without any delays. To say our customer was relieved would be an understatement!

Hints and Tips…

We had a recent nasty reminder of how important it is to ensure electrics in the home are checked regularly, having been called out to a house where a loose connection in a plug had started smouldering and could have started a house fire. It’s so important to ensure your home is safe as well as your business.

Calling All Landlords!

You may be aware that new regulations for electrical testing are now required for private rental. These are already in place for new tenancy agreements and must be met by 1st April 2021 for any existing tenancies to comply*.

Don’t leave it until the last minute. Give us a call to discuss our testing & condition report packages.

* if a report was carried out after the 18th edition of the Wiring Regulations in 2019, and you are compliant with all other requirements, you have 5 years until the next required inspection.

Service Highlight – Maintenance Packages

Our maintenance packages offer peace of mind for businesses with regards to testing assessments, compliance and rapid incident response. We believe that prevention is better than cure, as it minimises disruption, downtime, cost and lengthens the life cycle of any electrical installations. We offer automated reminders, a central certification holding portal and easy-pay agreements to make the upkeep of your site as efficient and painless as possible.

Wishing you all the best for the start of 2021, from all the staff at Tomlinson Longstaff!
