December 2021 Newsletter

Can you believe we’re already into December? We certainly can’t!

It’s been another busy year here at HQ, with 2 new apprentices starting, Kevin Layton joining the team as Contracts Engineer, and our commercial & industrial work really ramping up alongside the Renewable Technology services, that are becoming more & more popular across the northeast in businesses and homes.

Here’s a short round-up of news to take us into the new year…

Playing Our Part

Playing Our Part

We saw an impact in less than 4 weeks at Tomlinson Longstaff HQ, with our recent solar panel installations, in driving ‘green’ within the northeast. We saved over 230kg of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent to planting 11 trees. Imagine if we all did the same…

Visit our energy efficiency service page to find out how we can help you save emissions and save money.

Charger legislation

Electric Vehicle Charger Legislation

It was reported back in September that electric vehicle charging points could be made mandatory for all new-build offices and homes from as early as 2022.

It comes amid mounting concern over a shortage of charging points as more motorists switch to electric cars in advance of the sale of new petrol and diesel cars coming to an end in 2030.

Edmunson's Electrical

Supplier Shoutout

We love giving our fabulous suppliers a bit of a mention, just because they truly deserve it!

This time we’re celebrating Edmunsons Electrical, based in Durham.

Not just your average electrical wholesaler, they often go above and beyond to get the exact materials we need to complete a job, they annually calibrate our test meters, support us with lighting designs and usually having pretty much all we need for many of the jobs that we work on.

So a massive thumbs up to Ian and Tony, thanks for all your help in keeping Tomlinson Longstaff fired up and ready to work.

Protective gear

Did you know…

Every member of our team has a bespoke protective mask fitting when they start work with Tomlinson Longstaff, courtesy of our supplier experts.

The fitting not only ensures the mask is secure and comfortable, but that it will offer maximum protection for the lungs when operating in dusty environments. As you can see it’s not a straightforward test and we think Mitch from New Day Safety Solutions had a bit too much fun carrying out the assessment on new team member Kallan! What do you think?

Call us today on 01388 833836 to see how we can help maintain your business output and prevent any nasty financial surprises.

Hints & Tips

Installation of fire alarms

Prevention is better than cure…

Being in business can be costly enough without emergency electrical repairs being needed.

It’s not just equipment costs that have to be covered if your power supply goes down, operational shutdowns, impact on personnel and output delays can all make the bill add up.

By maintaining commercial and manufacturing equipment, you can prevent these expensive surprises from happening and keep your business running smoothly.

Now the long dark nights are truly here, it’s vital to ensure the safety of your employees, pupils and buildings.

Tomlinson Longstaff offers free, no-obligation inspections of your exterior and interior lighting, and CCTV, to prepare your school, office or site for the winter months ahead.

Call us today on 01388 833836 and give yourself peace of mind that your pupils, staff and premises are protected.
