The Client
Stephenson Gobin, Bishop Auckland
The Brief
To install a power supply to the site access gates to enable automation.
The Activity:
Having worked with Stephenson Gobin, industrial electromagnet solution manufacturers, for some time we were delighted to be asked to design and install an upgraded power system to convert the site security gate system for automation.
We installed 100mm cable tray along the perimeter fence on site whilst GRN Construction installed a trench with ducting between each side of the gate, making good the road surface following their works.
We then installed SWA cabling from the external distribution boards to isolators
at each side of the gates. This made way for the new power supply to allow the gates and access controls (fitted by JNR Construction Ltd., Grec Systems Ltd., and AutoClock Systems Ltd.) to be managed automatically by permitted personnel onsite.
We called upon our supply partners City Electrical Factors for the cable tray, isolator, and relevant cabling supplies.

The Result:
Despite having to manage the job around the site working hours to ensure minimal disruption, due to the site entry and exit being blocked while the job was ongoing, it was completed on time and to the brief.
The site now has in place a much higher level of security with the gates being able to be remotely controlled be specific site personnel rather than manually or having to be left opened for longer periods of time.
