External Lighting System Around School in Houghton Le Spring

The Client

West Rainton Primary School, Houghton Le Spring

The Brief

To supply and install external lighting to school surroundings.

The Activity:

Having worked with West Rainton Primary School in the past, we were asked to supply and install 2 external floodlights to a yard area near the nursery provision attached to the school.

Park Electrical were our ‘go to’ for the lighting design and materials, supplying 2 x Robus 150w LED floodlights, which the team installed via a new electrical circuit on 2.5mm cable, clipped in the loft area and drilled out so that the lights could be mounted on the gable ends of the building. This was then extended to feed the two electrical floodlights using 1.5mm cable clipped directly to them.

The lights themselves were proposed specifically to aid in supporting the school in reducing electrical energy consumption, with built in photocells to ensure the lighting became activated by movement, and we fitted a timer sensor to ensure that the light closed down after an amount of time and so as not to stay lit throughout the night.

Despite the time pressure, the team ensured that the works were completed within the half term to minimise disruption to the nursery, school and the clients on site.

The Result:

The new gable end lighting not only provides safety at times when daylight hours are shorter, but also allows the nursery to ensure the safety of its visitors and clients having now extended their hours of care provision.
