The Brief
To replace existing lighting within the shop, changing area and shop window, and install an air curtain to the shop entrance.
The Activity:
After discovering Tomlinson Longstaff via Google, our client asked the team to assess and suggest replacement lighting for the shop to enhance the environment, create a more efficient lighting system and install an air curtain to the entry/exit doorway to protect the shop environment from air contamination from the high street, creating a more pleasurable customer experience.
The existing lighting consisted of dome, low level bay lighting throughout, with recessed downlighting and spotlights for the window and changing areas.
Following an initial assessment, the team designed a track lighting system for the internal ceiling perimeter and windows, with additional downlighting options to enhance particular areas of the shop for showcasing and enhanced experience opportunities.
Unfortunately, due to supply issues, the core lighting design initially requested by the client was unavailable within the fitting window timeframe, so the team suggested alternatives, which met with our clients demands and requirements.
The track lighting consisted of 28 LED lights within the main shop area, with additional LED downlighting replacing the previous less efficient lighting for the shop and changing areas, and an air curtain being installed from the existing power supply.
Time was of the essence on this job, as due to contractual obligations for the retail area, no work could be carried out during opening hours, resulting in the team having to work out of hours overnight, and alongside other third-party trades also involved in the rest of the store.
The Result:
The new lighting has resulted in a dramatic difference in the shop’s environment and appeal from outside.
The changing areas now provide a heightened customer experience, with the lighting strength being the most suited to the required task, ensuring that the customer receives the best impression of the store and clothing.
The track lighting also has the advantage of having moving heads to allow the client to arrange the lighting direction to suit the requirement of the displays as they change.
The team worked really hard to get this fit finished within the timeframe, and definitely came up with the goods, transforming the store into a much more enhanced and attractive experience for the customers visiting.
