November 2023 Newsletter

Is it too early to say ‘HoHoHo’?

But first, let’s kick off with something to warm the heart…

We were delighted that Stephen accepted our offer of promotion to Supervisor. Congratulations!

And yes, it definitely crept up on us as well! The weeks are flying by towards the festive period and, of course, with that comes shorter days and darker evenings.

Many of our customers already have their building and security lighting assessments booked in and we’re working our way through them. If you haven’t booked yours yet, give us a shout at the office and the team will make sure you’re all ready for winter as it draws ever closer.

This is definitely Stephen’s thinking face!
The team had a bit of a challenge with this job, fitting solar panels to a trapezoidal metal storage building roof.
Due to the structure, we used a unique mounting system from Van Der Valk (supplied by Waxman) to ensure the fitting was safe and secure.

The job also included installing a storage battery, bird protection, and a hot water diverter.

You can read more about it here, but suffice to say we’re looking forward to hearing about the energy cost savings that our customer is going to gain from installing this fully comprehensive renewable technology solution.

What’s been happening…

One Thing Leads To Another

We often find that one renewable technology project leads to another, as our customers realise the potential financial savings that can be made that more rapidly offset their initial investment, as well as the wide variety of systems that are out there that we can advise on.

This customer had an electric vehicle charging point installed at the property not too long ago, and then decided that solar panels would be ideal to compliment the energy-generating system and allow the property to rely less on the grid for electrical power.

Calling all landlords

This month we’re reminding Landlords to check that their paperwork is in order, especially the EICR certificates, vital for rental property compliance.

EICR’s only last 5 years, as of April 2021, even if the original certificate states 10 years cover.

Our advice?

  • dust off your document files
  • call our trusty inspection & maintenance team via the office
  • get your inspection booked
  • then leave the rest to us!

Every day is a school day!

It certainly was for our team up in Scotland recently, who have added Roxtec Cable Seal training to their talent list.

In short, Roxtec Cable Seals offer a smart way of sealing multiple cables rather than using a traditional cable gland for each cable, saving space and installation time, as well as being able to seal varying sized cables in a neat way.

Another feather in their caps, well done team!

    Hints & Tips

    Emergency Lighting

We all love the warmth and comfort of our own homes, but it’s crucial to remember that safety comes first.

Carbon Monoxide and smoke detectors are unsung heroes in our homes and offices, which is why ensuring they are maintained and in the right place is vital.

    • early detection saves lives.
    • carbon monoxide is colourless and odourless, often known as the silent killer.
    • regular cleaning and testing are vital for knowing they’ll work when they need to.
    • replace both every 10 years, or when manufacturers advise if less.
    • put them where advised – in short, on every level, in bedrooms and close to any fuel-burning appliances.
    • your peace of mind – with functioning detectors, you know you are protecting your family and/or workplace.

Pop a monthly check into your diary and you’ll know you’re prepared for the unexpected.

Service Highlight – Lighting Assessment & Remedial

Now the nights are drawing in and the clocks have changed, it’s important to make sure all your electrical installations are working as they should. That includes lighting inside, perimeter or security lighting outside, as well as any electrical equipment or distribution boards.

We offer a maintenance package, ideal for businesses, organisations, education, and sports club sites, which not only gets you a bit of a cash saving, but we diarise the checks when needed so you don’t have to think about it.

Call us on 01388 833836 to find out more.

If you are considering a modification to your site, extending some works or looking at a brand new installation, contact our office and we will happily offer a no-commitment exploratory meeting to ensure that your project comes to life quickly, on time and within budget.
