It’s been a busy start to 2022 here at TL HQ!
We’ve had a flurry of new customers come on board since we last wrote in December, with a mix of electrical requirements; maintenance agreements to service and protect equipment, electrical vehicle charging point installations, solar panel enquiries and some really exciting industrial projects that we will hopefully be able to tell you more about soon.
Unfortunately, for now, they are top secret! But here’s what we can tell you about…
Driving Low Carbon Technology

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Tomlinson Longstaff is now registered as an MCS* Solar PV Installer (*Microgeneration Certification Scheme), supported by the NICEIC.
What does it mean for you?
We have spent many hours proving to the accrediting panel our expertise and commitment to driving low carbon technology across the northeast. Our customers can now receive a certificate from us which allows them access to government incentives via their energy provider.
We are helping drive change in terms of energy consumption costs and resources, for the better.
The better for our homes, businesses, and our beautiful planet.www.tomlinsonlongstaff.co.uk
What’s been happening…
Site Management Safety – A Top Priority
Two of our team, Kevin and Paul, recently attended, and passed with flying colours, the 5-day SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) course, one of the most highly recognised site safety and management qualifications within our industry.
It’s not an industry requirement, however, we view it as a necessity here at Tomlinson Longstaff HQ, proving our commitment to offering our customers the best safety planning, management and solutions when working on their sites.

Watch out for bats!
We absolutely love a challenge, but this was definitely not one we’d been offered before!
We had been asked to carry out a full rewire and update of data availability to classrooms within Carmel College, Darlington, including lighting, electrical and remedial building works, all to be completed by the end of the summer holidays to minimise disruption to the students and staff.
Not only that but there were bats roosting in the building which had to be considered and protected whilst we carried out the works, so as not to disturb or disrupt their environment.
It was a delicate process but one we relished and it definitely gave the office something to talk about!

Hints & Tips
Generating power whatever the weather…
Thousands of people in the northeast recently suffered power cuts and all the associated problems that go with them – cooking on camping stoves, candle lighting, defrosted freezers, no heating etc.
It’s not pleasant and can range from a minor inconvenience to an outright life-threatening situation.
Many people and businesses have been looking at generators to provide a backup for when the power goes down.
If you’d like advice about generators, auto-switching and installation, call us on 01388 833836.
Don’t get caught out.
