Sparking up the North East

We always seem to be saying it’s been a busy few months since our last news roundup, but there just doesn’t seem to be any let-up, which we’re here for!

Back in April, we celebrated World Earth Day and our own role in looking after the world around us, not only with our customers through renewable tech and solar installations, but also our own journey and how we can make our own business and personal positive impact, making sustainable choices where it makes sense to do so.

Part of that includes security, safeguarding, efficiency and protection of our team as well as schools, offices, businesses and industry as a whole.

Continuous Performance… and Celebration

50 years in business and 50 years NICEIC registered. Being recognised as a member of our industry’s leading bodies for compliance and professionalism isn’t just a badge, it brings pride within each of the team as well as the business as a whole. We have a rigorous full-day inspection every year to maintain our status, so it really is something to be proud of and shout about, giving clients and working partners peace of mind that we adhere to the highest standards.

Landlords are under increasing pressure to demonstrate electrical compliance, but not all EICRs are created equal.

If the person carrying out the inspection isn’t properly qualified and scheme-registered, the report won’t stand up to scrutiny, potentially leaving you exposed to fines, delays when selling/remortgaging, or, even worse, risk to your tenants.

In our latest blog, we explain why Competent Person (Electrical) Registration, Part P compliance, and proper inspection qualifications and equipment matter, covering aspects such as:

  • what the law actually requires landlords to do
  • why NICEIC or NAPIT registration is so important
  • how incorrect certification can cause problems later
  • what to look for when appointing an electrician.

If you have solar panels, this one’s worth knowing about…

Bird protection

They are a fantastic long-term investment, but there’s a problem that catches a lot of commercial, industrial and domestic property owners off guard, and is entirely preventable.

Birds, particularly pigeons, love the warm, sheltered space underneath roof-mounted solar panels, and, once they nest, the damage can be significant.

Droppings corrode panel components, nesting materials create fire risks, and the debris that builds up can seriously affect system performance and efficiency. Plus remedial work further down the line could be costly.

The good news? Retrofitting bird netting to your existing solar installation is a straightforward, cost-effective solution that protects your investment for the long term. Done properly, it’s discreet, durable, and has no interference with your panels or their output.

If you’ve already got solar panels on your roof and think there’s a potential for nesting or bird damage, it’s well worth having a chat with the TL team.

Service Highlight: EICR for Industry

Electrical faults are one of the leading causes of workplace fires, putting your staff as well as your site in danger.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) gives your organisation a clear picture of what’s going on behind the scenes, i.e. the bits you don’t see day to day, helping you to stay compliant, protect your people, and avoid costly breakdowns or outbreaks before they happen.

You can watch this video and read a live case study to find out why EICRs are important for industry.
