What you should know about working at height

According to the HSE, falls from a height are one of the biggest causes of workplace fatalities and major injuries. As an employer, it is important to ensure that you are complying with the Work at Height Regulations, as failure to do so could have very serious implications, both legally and with regards to your employees’ safety.

The HSE advise us that we should avoid work at height ‘when it is reasonably practicable to do so’. But sometimes, working at height simply cannot be avoided. At this point, it’s also worth noting that working at height doesn’t necessarily mean being high above the ground, as working next to a hole would be classified as working at height and the necessary safety precautions would need to be put in place.
